One of the joys of winter for me is wearing cosy, colourful and hand knitted or crocheted wooly hats, scarfs and mittens. It’s my winter jewelery, so to say.
I spend most of my free time dyeing, spinning, designing, crocheting and knitting winter accessories.
I’m in the process of writing down some of my designs to share my passion and love for handspun yarn, crochet and knitting.
While there are a lot of patterns out there, there are very few for hand spinners and people who would like to use handspun yarn.
So here is a pattern for a handspun crocheted hat that makes a beautiful, textured and very unique hat that is quick and easy to make.
The crochet pattern is suitable for beginners who are familiar with basic crochet stitches and techniques.
In the Pdf I link to hand spinners in the UK and US who sell their yarns, some of them also sell wool tops for spinning. Or hand paint your own wool tops/yarns, check out my tutorial on how to do that.
The pattern is written in standard American/U.S. English terms. It’s one size that will fit an average female adult and teen head. Gauge is 9 double crochet + 6 rows = 10cm (4”).
